This lion took over people's lives for a solid two weeks. |
If you are intelligent enough to not be on Facebook, you have saved yourself a lot of headache having to read through posts having to deal with Kim Davis and Cecil the Lion over the past few weeks. Instead, maybe you spent time with family, made or did something, took a vacation, read a book, studied a subject, or started a new career or business.
If you are on Facebook, congratulations on spending day in and day out reading and posting about Kim Davis and Cecil the Lion. Maybe you argued some about gay rights. Maybe you took some time out of your day and posted a picture of Donald Trumps hair. I am sure that these are great uses of your time. Better to do that than make your real life better, right?! I am sure that when you look back on your life, you will be proud of those moments you spent arguing on the internet about things that you long since forgotten about. After all, who is going to be talking about Kim Davis and Cecil the Lion in 10 years?! Do you feel proud of yourself for boasting your opposition to Kony 2012 three years ago??? I bet you forgot all about that, huh?

Facebook obsession: August - September |
If you think you can use Facebook for a way to stay in touch, ask yourself if the cost is worth it. Even I admit having returned once again to be SLAPPED in the face. Once again I came back to my senses, realizing that the time spent on this site is largely a waste. It is not something I like to admit, but I feel that honesty is required in all things - especially when it comes to getting over something that is addictive. And yes, Facebook is addictive. It is especially so when you leave your home country and you wonder what your family and friends are doing across the pond. However, it's a fantasy as well. It's a land of anger. It's a land of fighting and arguing. It's political nonsense run amok. It's ridiculous, and it shows just how enlightened our society is. If this is the ideal, then I want out.
